Door Locks

Your door locks should be changed after each tenant

Every time a tenant moves out you get the keys back but you really don't know if they lost keys, had extra keys made. If you have a domestic violence and one Party moves out we are required to change the locks by law. You should re-key each time you turn a unit over.

We use Smart locks to do this easily. We can re-key a home in about 5 minutes once we have the locks installed and a lock smith is not needed. Make sure to get the one that is "Keyed one side" and says Smartkey on the box. For safety reasons you can't use a keyed on both side lock in your home. Look at the top right of the picture below, it says Keyed One Side.

Smart key locks can be purchased at your local big box store and if you need two sets you can, most of the time, find the same code on the each box so the keys already match. See the number on the yellow sticker below. In this case, 90277 is the key code. and if it was on the 2nd box then it would be the same key and would work for both locks.
